  1. D2I job opportunity!

Data Manager (Data to Insight) | Salary from £42,916 | Home working with some paid travel | Apply before 30th March

We’re looking to expand our team to support the South East Regional Care Co-operative with their regional data platform for the next year or so, and hopefully to help us support other regions with similar efforts around data sharing, data pipelines, and shared technical solutions. The role will be part of the wider team so there will be people to learn from and plenty of chances to work together and get involved in different bits of what we do.

The advert has more detail, but what I’d say here is that this is a chance for anyone interested in this work to stretch their skills, work with lots of great colleagues around the country, and help us design the long-term support approach for some exciting new regional data capabilities. With local government reorganisation gearing up, and the regional care co-operatives coming into being, I think it’s crucial we have good ways of working with data at regional scale, and of managing those solutions effectively for users. If you think you could help with that, please do consider putting in an application, and feel free to get in touch by email if you’d like a chat about the role.

  1. RIIA and EH Q3 benchmarking tools

A quick note to say that we’ve now received back RIIA Q3 data from all regions, so we’ve updated the RIIA Quarterly Benchmarking Tool accordingly.

The Early Help Benchmarking Tool is now also updated, with a new record 87 LAs contributing this quarter! If you’d like your LA or region to join this partnership, it’s as simple as starting to send us quarterly aggregate data using the return template. Email for more information.

  1. Ofsted inspections Power BI dashboard

Hot on the heels of last week’s Early Help dashboard from Somerset Council, our friends at the London Innovation and Improvement Alliance (LIIA) have shared a public dashboard they now maintain based on the data from our Ofsted inspection datasets.

The dashboard has five pages and covers ILACS and SEND inspections, with all manner of filters and visualisations available. It draws from data which D2I compiles from the Ofsted PDF inspection reports each Monday morning, and includes direct links back to those full datasets in case you want to dig into the detail.

We’ve also added a link to the dashboard to the “Core toolkit” page of the D2I website, for ease of reference. And we’ll have a session at our next D2I Open House (see below) to talk through how it all works.

  1. Benchmarking Tool updated with Workforce data

DfE shared the outturn from the Social Work Workforce Census last month, and we’ve updated our benchmarking tool accordingly.

  • (3.50) Added SW Workforce 2024 return

  • (3.50) Minor fixes

We’re not issuing an accompanying updated version of ChAT, as we’re anticipating the CIN/CLA outcomes publication within the next month or so, so look out for more news on that in the coming weeks.

  1. NVEST inaugural event

“There are very few things less predictable than families.”

“There are fantastic possibilities in what ICT can add to CSC. It’s important that it’s led by people who understand what that work is.”

  • Professor Eileen Munro

We closed February with the inaugural event for NVEST – the National Voice for Excellence in Safeguarding Technology. Over 80 colleagues from around 50 LAs joined us to hear a keynote speech from Professor Eileen Munro, and to share their own thoughts about how we could use a group like this to help each other achieve meaningful change in our systems and the ways we manage them.

I took pages and pages of notes at the event, and will be following up with a NVEST newsletter in the very near future. We’re planning future events now, and welcome input from you about what these should include. You can sign up using the link above.
