The NVEST meeting in May 2026 brought together just over 240 attendees, including around 220 representatives from local authorities, alongside DfE and partners to share progress on data, digital, and AI developments in children’s social care. If you came along, thank you for being part of another fantastic event!
With a focus on AI for this meeting, we heard from LA colleagues that AI adoption is increasing, but not without concerns. Case studies from North Yorkshire and East Sussex highlighted the importance of incremental implementation, strong governance, and workforce readiness; key themes included the need for collaboration across the sector, improved AI literacy, clear ethical frameworks, and maintaining professional judgement when using AI.
