I’ve created a customer group to match my local region. I was expecting the custom group line and the region's line to match up, but there are differences. What's going on?
When the tool shows, for example, the North East region, it pulls its data from the DfE's published data for the North East region as a whole. When the tool shows a custom group made up of all North East LAs, it averages data from the selected LAs' individual results.
So the custom group is showing the average of the different rates across the region, regardless of the relative population sizes. The North East line, by contrast, is showing the actual rate for the region as a whole.
The same is true of the "Statistical Neighbours" line -- it is calculating an average figures across the selected LA's statistical neighbours.
